The human rights abuse and limited education on tea plantations in rural Sri Lanka are direct results of British colonialism. Currently, our partners are organizing to strengthen the capacity of tea plantation schools, ensuring Tamil youth can complete their education, helping to reduce vulnerability to labor trafficking and other forms of abuse. Script: Hello, I am a member of the International Coalition Against Modern Slavery. It has come to my attention that your company sources from Sri Lankan Tea plantations, where rampant human rights abuses, including forced labor, have been documented. More must be done to ensure workers are paid a living wage, receive fair treatment, and work without force, threats, and coercion.

Over the past few years, the International Coalition Against Modern Slavery has grown into a network of hundreds of individuals and organizations across dozens of countries. As we plan on transitioning into a larger organization (tentatively approaching the nonprofit creation process) we'd like to hear feedback both from our members and others in the sector!
Learn how community-based organizers in Tanzania work to support and rehabilitate child survivors of forced domestic work through housing, legal support, counseling, and education. Community-based networks are essential in the fight against forced labor and human trafficking.
Globally, women and girls face reduced access to quality education, decent work, and financial independence, creating heightened vulnerabilities to trafficking, forced labor, and other forms of modern slavery. Tech companies are being sued by families in the Congo for profiting off of lithium mined from trafficked child labor. We need collective action to secure justice and prevent future exploitation. Send a letter to help demand these companies settle the lawsuit.
States must "reaffirm their commitment, in the strongest terms possible, to the full, effective, and meaningful implementation of SDG 8.7". The recent UN summit saw vast failure to address SDG 8.7. This goal calls for, "immediate and effective measures to eradicate forced labour, end modern slavery and human trafficking". Read the full letter here, and send to your ambassador/connections in government.

The act would prevent migrants who arrive through irregular channels of migration from being granted asylum – no matter if they are minors, modern slavery victims, or fleeing persecution. The UN stated this will have “profound consequences for people in need of international protection”. By criminalizing survivors and abandoning vulnerable populations, the bill will drastically fuel exploitation. https://www.jcwi.org.uk/not-in-our-name-sign-our-open-letter-to-the-pm
What organizations and activists should know about modern slavery. Our global economic system is driven by exploitation, and only by working across sectors to combat the root causes of modern slavery can we remedy this. This guide is not meant to be comprehensive, but rather a jumping-off point for understanding how to address the intersectionalities of the modern slavery crisis. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-CvWx-83VwImO4jpnld8GDvP9ESG-H5O/view?usp=sharing
Supporting refugees is key to combating vulnerabilities which lead to trafficking and exploitation. Migrants, especially those fleeing conflict, are disproportionately affected by this crisis. You can donate here to support efforts to aid those in Sudan. So far, the money has gone to buying food, baby formula for refugees arriving in Medani, orphanages, shelters for homeless individuals, and more. 100% of the money goes to on the ground aid teams. https://gofund.me/849cf489

Assisting migrants — through safe channels of migration, protecting undocumented populations, the right to work, etc. — is key to preventing trafficking. Yet, far too often a lack of understanding causes human trafficking and smuggling to be wrongly conflated, leading to policies that end up leaving migrants vulnerable.
